Tuesday 29th October (3pm UK) – RuneScape Mobile, the forthcoming smartphone and tablet edition of the iconic PC MMORPG, launched in Early Acess today, meaning every RuneScape subscriber can now enjoy the entire living game on mobile. RuneScape Mobile Early Access is now available to download for Android from the Google Play Store.
RuneScape members who jump into RuneScape Mobile Early Access will be rewarded with the exclusive Mobile Founder’s Pack, including a Steel Panther Combat Pet, a unique rest animation and the dazzling Radiant Dawn Armour.
RuneScape Mobile Early Access features cross-platform play between mobile and desktop editions, enabling players to seamlessly jump between devices and take their adventure anywhere. RuneScape Mobile Early Access also boasts an entirely new user interface that’s custom designed for touchscreen devices.
Jason Millena, Product Director at Jagex, said:
“The release in Early Access is a massive moment in the on-going development of RuneScape Mobile. Players have been hungry to be part of it ever since we began the invite-only closed beta and now we’re ready to welcome RuneScape’s millions of players, to our living game world on mobile.
“Given RuneScape’s 18-year long heritage, in addition to being recognised by Guinness World Records for ‘The Most Prolifically Updated MMORPG Videogame’, to have the whole of RuneScape running on mobile is a massive achievement. We couldn’t be more excited to launch in Early Access and welcome those who know RuneScape the best – our members.”
RuneScape Mobile Early Access has been optimised with a mobile-friendly user interface and given a visual and operational overhaul. The HUD has been modified to accommodate new systems and there’s a refresh of how first-time players are welcomed into the game. The graphical clarity on the menus, icons, text and textures have all been improved and combat mechanics have been tailored for mobile players.
RuneScape Mobile Early Access marks the next step in bringing the celebrated MMORPG franchise to mobile devices and follows last year’s launch of Old School RuneScape on mobile. Today, the iOS and Android editions of Old School RuneScape are a major success, with more than 8 million installs and a 4.8 out of 5 rating on mobile stores. It was also the winner of the BAFTA Audience Award for EE Mobile Game of the Year at the BAFTA Games Awards 2019.
Phil Mansell, CEO, Jagex said:
“This is the whole of RuneScape and we’re refining it for mobile. After 18 incredible years as an iconic living game on PC, RuneScape is joining its sister title, Old School RuneScape, on the small screen as we bring two of the world’s most popular MMORPGs to the world’s most popular gaming devices. As we continue RuneScape Mobile’s development, we look forward to having our members joining us on the journey to create the optimum player experience on mobile during the months ahead.”
RuneScape Mobile Early Access is now free to download for Android from the Google Play Store. The RuneScape Mobile Early Access trailer is now playing:

Notes to Editors:
First launched in 2001 and in continual live service ever since, RuneScape is an ever-expanding, living game set in a medieval fantasy world. Over 18 years, it’s seen over 270 million accounts created and deliver over 200 quest stories, over 6,500 unique characters and more than 25,000 game items to collect.
Unashamedly British in humour, RuneScape embraces a vast, unconventional sandbox world that’s full of gods, warring races, unexplored dungeons, and glittering riches. Propelled by the game’s narrative, players choose their own path through enthralling quests, and progress through diverse skills to shape a single character in a classless world.
